2021

At our inaugural (and virtual) staff Forward Festival last December, our keynote speaker Chris Sanderson from the Future Laboratory told us it was too soon to speak about “post-covid” – he was correct. We are still very much navigating it now.

The definition of ‘workplace’ reset itself time and time again as 2020 turned into 2021 – evolving as the world navigated working from home in interchanging stints. This evolution strengthened our resolve to deliver workplace quality beyond that of the expected, reaching to define the needs of the future workforce. We saw that wellness in the workplace – a movement already gaining valid ground pre-pandemic – was a timely revolution and were proud to hear of the multiple ways our workplace designs were ready for the wave of a workplace dispersed.

Every Woods Bagot studio is looking at opportunities to serve the hybrid needs of a workforce forever changed. Our priority now is to remove the discrimination that physical spaces can bring to remote participants – learning and adapting in ways that help our clients navigate the new world of workplace.

We’ve collated some stories from across the workplace sector including 4 insights from the workplace future & what it takes to top the World Best Workplace list in the Leesman index two years in a row from global workplace leader Amanda Stanaway, how lobbies have become the workplace living room, global cafe suggestions for next time you visit one of our studios, and an article on how you may pay for future design services using Non-fungible tokens.

Wherever you are, however you work, we hope you enjoy the stories.

Regards,
Nik Karalis, CEO

There have been a variety of responses and approaches to the post-pandemic return to the workplace. Some organizations have opted for a return to pre-Covid working regimes, others are welcoming hybrid as the new norm, and others have decided to allow employees to work from home indefinitely and are even advertising it as a benefit to attract new talent.

What does it take to design the world’s best workplace? Workplace Sector leader Amanda Stanaway reveals the secret sauce.

According to Ray Yuen, the accelerative force of the pandemic has reframed the lobby as we know it – evolving its definition into a new kind of multi-purpose public space capable of making people stay.
